Planning Your Trip to Atali Ganga

Everything you'd want to know before you book, in one place.

Atali Ganga is a hillside Activotel above the Ganga near Rishikesh, run by Aquaterra Adventures, an adventure company operating in the Himalayas since 1995. This guide covers how to get here, which stay format suits you, what's included, when to visit, and the practical details that don't always make it into a hero image.

Choosing where to stay

One estate, two very different formats.

Atali Ganga cottages

22 cottages · forested hillside

Private hillside cottages set through the forested slope opposite the Ganga, close to the café, pool, spa and adventure base. As an Activotel, the experience includes walking, climbing and short hikes between spaces, especially for cottages higher up the slope. Best for couples, smaller families and guests who want the full, livelier Atali rhythm.

The Foresterie villas

2 villas · 8 rooms · deep forest privacy

Two private villas within the same estate, reached by SUV along a quiet forest track. Shared living and dining space, a garden jacuzzi, and step-free access via a wheelchair ramp make this the format for large families, retreats, and celebrations that want more seclusion.

Both formats are pet-friendly (dogs and cats, one pet per cottage, ₹1,500/night). For a full side-by-side comparison, see , or read how a .

What's included

A stay is meals, tea and two activities a day, built in.

  • • Accommodation, hosting up to 3 people per cottage
  • • Buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner as per plan
  • • Morning and evening tea/coffee with cookies
  • • Pre-dinner snacks with soft beverages/mixers at the Café deck
  • • Two activities a day with transfers, one session each of: rafting up to 24 km, kayaking, a guided hike up to 3 km, yoga, and wall climbing

Meals are served buffet and à la carte at the White Water Café, dietary needs including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, Jain, sattvic, and baby food are accommodated with notice. There's no bar on-site, but guests are welcome to carry their own alcohol. Due to the hillside layout and resident wildlife (including monkeys), in-room dining isn't offered at the cottages; the Foresterie villas do offer private dining and barbecue evenings.

Adventure & activities

Rafting is the anchor. It isn't the only thing.

Every adventure activity is run by Aquaterra Adventures, guiding in the Himalayas since 1995, with certified guides, safety kayakers on the river, and grade-appropriate rapids for beginners. Each activity has a minimum age for safety:

White Water Rafting

14 – 65 years

Kayaking

7 years and above

Wall Climbing

6 years and above

Low Ropes Course

6 years and above

High Ropes Course

10 years and above

Mountain Biking

12 years and above

The private kayaking beach is a 2-minute drive to the drop-off point, then a 7–10 minute forest walk to a white-silver sand beach. Read the full activity list on , the river programme on , how a first rafting day for beginners and families actually runs on , or what each named rapid is graded on .

When to go

Open year-round. What changes is the water, not the welcome.

Rafting & kayaking season

Water activities pause from July to September for monsoon safety. Outside that window, rafting and kayaking run as normal.

Winter (Nov–Feb)

Chilly mornings and evenings, warm clothing recommended. Cottages have air conditioning with heating, so indoor comfort holds year-round.

Monsoon

Occasional landslide risk on mountain roads is monitored closely by the team, who'll advise guests accordingly if conditions require it.

The details that don't fit in a photo.

Families & kids

Children aged 5 and above can join most activities; those under 6 stay complimentary sharing a parent's bed. There's no dedicated kids' play room or childcare service, the philosophy here is outdoor play over indoor entertainment, with the pool, ropes courses and wall climbing standing in for one.

Accessibility

The hillside layout includes roughly 300 steps across the property, with about 65–70 steps to the first row of cottages. Atali Ganga's cottages aren't wheelchair accessible; The Foresterie offers a wheelchair ramp and step-free access. Speak to the team before booking if mobility is a concern.

Connectivity & quiet hours

Mobile network and Wi-Fi are available throughout the property. Quiet hours run 10pm–6am, guests share this reserved forest with real wildlife, so gatherings are asked to stay in common areas rather than the cottages after dark.

Pets

Vaccinated, leashed dogs and cats are welcome, one per cottage, at ₹1,500/night. Bring their food and bedding, the property doesn't stock pet supplies, and common indoor areas like the café, pool and spa stay pet-free.
